Appendix D provides chi-square values for various degrees of freedom and p values. To use the table, identify the appropriate degrees of freedom (df) and level of significance of the test. The entries reported in the table each indicate the value of x2 above which a proportion “p” of the distribution falls. Here is an example: For df = 1, a x2 of 3.841 is exceeded by 5% of the distribution at p = 0.05.
